Welcome, Pool and Spa Contractors

Propane is smart energy for homeowners interested in creating outdoor rooms.

Propane has a long history as outdoor energy, and you're no doubt familiar with its use outdoors, including its ability to heat a pool or spa faster than electric heat pumps. This site will provide you with the information and resources you need to offer propane as a key component of your pool and spa packages.

There are three basic things you and your homeowners should know about propane:

  • It's clean energy. Propane's low emissions make it an approved alternative fuel recognized by the Clean Air Act of 1990 and a qualifying alternative fuel eligible for various federal tax incentives under the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
  • It slashes energy costs. Using propane produces less than half of the greenhouse gas emissions than using an equivalent amount of electricity generated from the U.S. grid. Propane appliances typically are far more efficient than their electric counterparts. An Energy Star-qualified propane tankless water heater with an efficiency factor (thermal efficiency) of 82 percent, for instance, can save a homeowner up to 60 percent on his or her energy bill compared with a standard electric model.
  • It supports today's lifestyle. Propane provides homeowners with the modern amenities they want, including on-demand hot water and energy for outdoor living spaces.
