A modern heating upgrade for a historic academy
When it comes time to replace aging equipment, some educational facilities are choosing to use more-efficient condensing boilers.
Instead of replacing its aging water heating equipment with similar boilers, the Campion Academy in Loveland, Colo., went with more energy-efficient and versatile condensing boilers, which can run on propane or natural gas. As David Lohnes, president of Chambers Plumbing & Heating, told HPAC Engineering: "The reason we thought the Rinnai boilers would do so well in this application was that they have the capability to monitor the ambient temperatures outside and heat the building according to those temperatures. The fact that these boilers can modulate up and down so the heat load needed is met without overfiring and wasting energy made a big impact."
